Sweet Success: Senior Learning Community’s Mission Bake Sale!

We are absolutely thrilled to share the incredible achievements of the Senior Learning Community  students who recently hosted a fantastic and successful bake sale! This wasn’t just about delicious treats; it was a powerful learning experience that combined curriculum skills with a deep commitment to service and community.

Our Senior Learning Community students took on a variety of roles, demonstrating an impressive range of skills throughout this project:

  • Culinary Creations & Safety: Students spent time researching and mastering health and safety standards when preparing their sweet treats, ensuring every item was made with care and cleanliness.

  • They sharpened their mathematical skills by carefully planning the costing of items. This involved calculating ingredient expenses, determining fair pricing, and forecasting potential profits—real-world application of numbers!

  • Creative Marketing: Our young entrepreneurs designed vibrant and persuasive posters to advertise the event, showcasing their creativity and communication skills. They also actively promoted the bake sale in classrooms, honing their public speaking and persuasion techniques.

  • Presentation & Packaging: The treats didn’t just taste good; they looked amazing! Students beautifully decorated their goods and ensured attractive and safe packaging items for sale.

  • Collaboration & Communication: This project was a testament to teamwork. Students had to work with a variety of peers and communicate effectively, learning to negotiate roles, share responsibilities, and support one another.

  • Service & Empathy: A key component was focusing on the needs of others. Students dedicated time to researching charitable organisations, learning about their missions, and collectively considering the impact their fundraising could have.

Our bake sale looks really good and delicious. Baking has been so much fun and a really good experience. We are doing the bake sale to raise money for charity. We hope you enjoyed what the Senior Learning Community made.

The effort and hard work of our Senior Learning Community students have yielded wonderful results! We are proud to announce that the funds raised from the bake sale will be going to two important causes:

  1. The Paulist Missionaries: Supporting their vital work in communities around the world.

  2. A Charity to be Decided: The Senior Learning Community students will soon be voting and formally announcing the second chosen charity, a decision made after their thorough research into organisations that align with their goal of helping others.

A massive well done to all the Senior Learning Community students for your enthusiasm, hard work, and generosity of spirit. Your project highlighted the best of our school’s values and proved that learning can be both fun and deeply impactful.

Thank you also to all the students, staff, and families who supported the bake sale by purchasing the delicious creations. Your contribution has turned a learning project into real-world charitable assistance!

The Senior bake sale experience for me was very fun! Our purpose is to raise money for the less fortunate and donate our money to charity (one of them being Paulist Missionaries). We provided yummy snacks for you to enjoy. We contributed by bringing in a few ingredients and creating advertisement posters. I hope you had a joyful experience and left with delicious treats. I had an amazing time.

On Thursday 27th of November the Senior Learning Community held a bake sale in the Paulist Centre to raise money for the Paulist Missionaries in the Philippines. We had chocolate bark, cup cakes, butterfly lollybags and more! It was a hit. Students from all over the school came to visit us! During the process our wonderful teachers helped us all the way with decorating, packing and making.

I felt really good because I got to bake with my friends and bake my favourite treat. I feel the bake sale is going to be good because we made $60 from the sample plates. To make the truffles we used crushed biscuits, shredded coconut, sweetened condensed milk and cocoa powder. We also had to make posters and put them around the school with pictures of the final products. I hope you all enjoy our treats that were made.
