All Senior learners and staff attended a 3 day camp at Lady Northcote Discovery Camp where we got to participate in many activities to develop team work, initiative skills and communication.
We went to camp Wednesday 14th to 16th of May. My favourite part was the giant swing and geocaching. The food was really good, the first night we had pasta bolognese or carbonara. Personally, I liked the bolognese better. In the mornings we had pancakes and cereal and on the second day we had bacon and eggs and cereal. Surprisingly the beds were really good, just remember to bring a sheet and a sleeping bag! On that note, in conclusion, camp is really fun and not just camp being with your friends everyday. To the year fives, I hope you have fun at camp next year.
Throughout camp we experienced different activities and talked to different people who we wouldn’t normally talk to. The activities that we did were Geocaching, bush cooking, initiatives, giant swing, funn games and kitchen garden. My favourite activities were Kitchen Garden and the giant swing. In kitchen garden we made pizza, it tasted really good. For the giant swing we were able to help one another by pulling each other up on to it. When it was our own turn you were able to choose whether you wanted to go all the way, just half way or two thirds of the way, it was all up to us. On the first night we had a liturgy and a talent show and on the second night we had a trivia night, where one of the rounds were we try to guess the baby version of the senior teachers. My favourite meal might have been the build your own wrap during lunch. On the last day we did an entire group activity where we tried to beat the other teams. Our group scored over 1000 points and it was so much fun.
Camp was amazing, spending time with your friends, having fun in group activities and more. My favourite activity was geocaching. We had to find the items through a device and then you had to walk through the vast areas of Lady Northcote. It was difficult but fun. The sleep was the tough one. We slept at around 10:30 and woke up at 7:00. Some kids weren’t really used to sleeping at this time and waking up at this time. Now one of the craziest events was after dinner time, the first night we had an amazing talent show and at the end we got prizes. On the second night we had a Trivia Quiz, my group won the game. We predicted the future and got first place, our group was called Trivia winners.
When I arrived at school for the day of camp in 2025 I was scared because this was the first time I would be away from my parents. When we got on the bus it felt like a long time when we arrived at the campsite.
The activities for this year were The Giant Swing, Geocaching, Kitchen Garden, Bush Cooking, Initiatives and Funn Games. I was in Group Six. The first activity my group did was funn games which was lots of fun, then we did Geocaching where we had to find stuff. Then was Kitchen Garden where we got to make pizzas. Next was Bush Cooking where we cooked marshmallows and something called damper. Then we did Initiatives which was an activity where we had to do teamwork and we had the best for last The GIANT SWING and I went on it, but I didn’t go to the top.
What I enjoyed about camp was the Giant Swing and that I was brave enough to go on it.
Camp was fun. We did lots of fun activities like geocaching, giant swing and bush cooking. My favourite was bush cooking.
On the first night we sat by the campfire and had reflection and on the second night we had trivia night which was fun and then on the last day we had a whole group challenge. It was fun.The cabins were nice. And the food was nice.
