The Junior Learning Community enjoyed an exciting excursion to CERES in Brunswick! After a loooong bus ride, our learners were ready to explore and discover all that CERES had to offer.
Throughout the day, learners participated in two engaging activities focused on sustainability, Indigenous storytelling and bush tucker. These hands on experiences encouraged learners to think about caring for our environment, connecting with First Nations perspectives and learning about native Australian plants and foods.
One of the biggest highlights was visiting the famous CERES playground! Learners were amazed to discover that many of the playground’s features were made from materials that big companies were throwing away. For example, the head of the caterpillar was made from a mixing bowl from Cadbury chocolate, and the ropes came from the Spirit of Tasmania! This was a wonderful way to see sustainability in action and learn how everyday materials can be reused in creative ways.
After a fun filled day of exploring, learning and playing, our tired little learners enjoyed a much quieter bus ride home, with quite a few catching up on some well earned sleep! What a wonderful day of learning beyond the classroom!
